> Solar Air Systems - A Design Handbook

This handbook guides architects and engineers through the process of designing and selecting one of the six active solar systems presented and optimizing that system. Tips also are given on construction and how to avoid problems.

> Solar Air Systems Product Catalogue

This catalogue is to inform building designers what components are available off the shelf for putting together a solar air system. Manufactured components or whole systems may be less expensive, more efficient and more reliable than custom-designed, site-built systems. The goal of this catalogue is therefore to prevent the wheel from being repeatedly reinvented.

This brochure provides a summary of the major findings of 14 demonstration projects. The conclusion from this investigation is a list of recommendations for future work in the field of solar energy in building renovation.

> Solar Energy in Building Renovation - Slide Set

This CD-ROM includes a PowerPoint slides presentation of Task demonstra-tion projects including building descriptions and the solar technologies used.

» TASK 21 - DAYLIGHT IN BUILDINGS

All Task Publications | All Available Publications | Look up

> Applicability of Daylight Computer Modeling in Real Case Studies: Comparison between Measured & Simulated Daylight Availability & Lighting Consumption

This report investigates the accuracy and limitations of the Adeline 1.0 lighting software in simulating the illuminance distribution from daylighting and the electrical lighting energy savings of an existing atrium building. The purpose of the study was to compare the Superlite, Superlink and Radiance computed outputs against data collected in a real building.

This report is avialable for download PDF PDF 1.3MB

> Measurement of Luminous Characteristics of Daylighting Materials

This report covers measurement characteristics and principles, plus light transmittance and bi-directional measurements and references.

The report also includes specific performance data.

> Post Occupancy Evaluation of Daylight Buildings

A method to study user reactions to indoor environment, especially daylighting, has been developed. It is based on a questionnaire that includesattitudes to daylight and windows as well as to the physical environment.

This report describes how to use the questionnaire which was first used in the EU Joule II Project Daylight Europe and then more extensively used in IEA SHC Task 21 - Daylight in Buildings.

> Results of Subtask C: Daylighting Design Tools

This report summarizes a survey of a cross-section of various simple daylighting design tools and their different applications. The survey included tools based on analytical solutions, tables, nomograms, diagrams, so-called protractors, simple computer tools, typological studies and scale models. Several new designs tools also are included. To allow for problem sensitive selection, the report includes a table to characterize the reviewed tools.

> Validation of Daylighting Computer Programs

This report summarizes the comparison of simulation results as well as comparisons with data obtained from measurements in scale models located in artificial skies for the daylighting softwares Radiance, Superlite, Genelux, Adeline and LESO-Dial.

> ADELINE 3 Software

This software is an integrated lighting design computer tool that provides architects and engineers with accurate information about the behavior and performance of indoor lighting systems. Both natural and artificial lighting problems can be solved in simple rooms or complex spaces. Innovative and reliable results are produced by processing data to perform light simulations and to produce comprehensive numeric and graphic information.
