This booklet showcases 5 buildings selected from 21 buildings to demonstrate how integrated design can create attractive, sustainable buildings. The buildings are described are in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany and the United States. Each building description includes how the design team managed the process, the work flows, relations between team participants and the how work resulted in sustainable construction.

Description of Case Stories: Task 23, Optimization of Solar Energy Use in Large Buildings

This technical report documents 21 buildings designed using the "whole building approach."Both the processes used in the design of the buildings and the resulting building performance were evaluated. The solar buildings documented include offices, schools, and conference and research centers. The buildings use a number of low energy and solar techniques, including daylighting, passive and active solar systems, and photovoltaics. The knowledge gained through this activity will serve as a basis for other Task work.
