Overview
Each Task 6 participating country was responsible for the design, construction,
and monitoring of at least one solar energy system utilizing evacuated tubular
collectors (ETC), a high performance collector. The eleven installations covered
the full range of applications, a wide range of ETC designs, and a wide range of
climatic regions, enabling significant comparisons to be drawn regarding
collector and system performance.
Following the experimental phase, participants documented the thermal
performance and the reliability and durablility of ETC collectors. In addition,
a series of reports on collector characterization, detailed and simplified
modeling, and design guidelines were also produced. Major information transfer
activities also took place through presentations at solar energy conferences and
material on ETC in a design manual for architects and engineers. |
