RECOMMENDED PLANNING PROCEDURE
When planning low energy dwellings, the following step by step procedure and sequence is recommended. In brackets Group numbers where more detailed technical information is available:
Step 1 :
Careful positioning of building on site. Minimize the built area.
Reduce the heat loss by considering the building envelope (Group 1).
Step 2 :
Select a balanced ventilation system with heat exchanger(Group 2).
Step 3 :
Consider the possibility for controls (Group 3).
Step 4 :
Consider the possibility for installing energy efficient equipment and lights.
Step 5 :
Consider the issue of choice of energy source (Group 5 and 6).
